An Evening Winter Skincare Routine

Your evening skincare routine can be one of the most calming rituals to help end your day. It's an act of self-care that you can squeeze in and help you wind down for the evening. With any change of weather, it's good to reevaluate your skincare. With the dry winter air, it s necessary to change up your skincare a bit. We will be going over a full winter routine using RainShadow Labs private label skincare formulas.

First, let's start with a few simple tips that boost hydration and glow in the skin! As an esthetician, one of the first questions I ask in a skin consultation is what your daily water intake is. Having the proper amount of water every day is just one of those habits that you need to add to your lifestyle. Tip: purchase a cute water bottle and motivate yourself to drink it up! I like to add a few drops of liquid Chlorophyll or lemon for extra benefits.

Turn down the heat when washing your face! It's normal for even oily skin types to feel dry and dehydrated during the winter months. Try to use cold or lukewarm water when washing your face. Hot water depletes the natural oils in your skin and can combat your skin's protective barrier.

Adding a serum with humectants like botanical hyaluronic acid and panthenol work to hydrate the skin. Humectants attract hydration to the skin and hold moisture in, allowing the skin to feel hydrated from the inside out.

Now it's time to address your skin's microbiome. So what is your skin's microbiome after all? Just like your gut, your skin is home to a community of billions of kind living microorganisms, also known as skin flora. This community is called the skin microbiome. Imagine this as an invisible eco-system that lives on the skin that's working to help keep it healthy and in good condition. I recommend doing an at-home facial and steam using all Rainshadow Lab's private label skincare.

How to perform a hydrating facial and facial steam at home:

Start by picking out your favorite essential oil for aromatherapy and add a few drops to a clean bowl. Boil 2 cups of water and pour into the bowl containing the aromatic essential oil. Starting with cleansed skin, steam your face for five to ten minutes keeping your face a safe distance away from the hot water and allowing it to feel the light steam. Work on your breath during this time; slowly, inhale and exhale. After you ve cleansed your skin and steamed, it's time to apply the rest of your skincare.

During the colder months, I prefer to start cleansing my skin with a cream-based cleanser; this will prevent over stripping the skin of its natural oils. Next up, I like to make sure my second cleanser is antioxidant-packed like our private label Vitamin C Wash. In my evening regimen, I apply a few different serums before bed, one that delivers intense hydration followed by a more specialized second formula. Swap your summer moisturizer for a thick night cream and layer a few drops of facial oil on top. Your skin will feel refreshed, hydrated, and glowy when you wake up in the morning.
