Body Care During the Winter Season

Whether you are hitting the slopes for some winter fun or sitting on the couch watching seasonal movies, you need to be taking good care of your skin. Just as we like to bundle ourselves before venturing out into the cold, our skin also needs extra protection during the winter. Winters can cause havoc on our skin as the temperatures drop and we spend more time indoors. In this blog, we're going to give you the rundown of some of our best body care tips for the winter season.

Hydrate, Protect, Moisture!

Moisturizing oils, body butter, and lotions are the answer! Making sure your body care products are nontoxic and clean is essential for proper hydration. Many body care moisturizers on the market today can contain extremely harmful and harsh ingredients that cause more feelings of dryness to the skin. Clean, botanical body care is far more effective and serves your body and planet best. Moisturizers work by sealing in the water already in your skin and softening skin with emollients and oils. Choosing the right moisturizer is a personal preference. What texture would you like enough to apply regularly? Body butter is thicker than lotion and can be great for all over the body or those dry patches on the skin. You can try our private label, Body Moisture Sample Pack to get started.

The Shower Ritual

A nice hot shower might be the thing you want most on a cold winter day, but it will only prolong your dry skin problems. Hot water washes naturally occurring oils from your skin and makes it feel even drier. Protect your sensitive skin by keeping the temperature at medium heat. When shaving, consider swapping your conventional shaving cream out with organic coconut oil. After the shower, lather on a thick layer of body butter or lotion. Botanical ingredients such as shea butter and aocoa butter work overtime to replenish moisture on the skin. And don't forget to moisturize your feet (and heels) with body butter, then put on fuzzy socks!

Exfoliate, Exfoliate, Exfoliate!

Exfoliate the skin properly two to three times a week! Consider using a plant-based sugar scrub or the dry brushing method. Your skin will feel baby smooth, and by sloughing off dead skin cells, your skin will better respond to your moisturizer. The process of exfoliating skin helps loosen and remove dead skin cells. You will notice less dry skin and much softer skin in the first few days and weeks after consistent exfoliation.
