Clear Skin Routine

More and more states and businesses across the country are requiring people to wear face coverings in public to fight the spread of COVID-19. Because of this, many people have been experiencing excessive skin issues and breakouts. Whether you are experiencing breakouts from your mask, stress, or hormones, our licensed esthetician is here to break down an effective regime.

Step One: Cleanse

When dealing with excessive skin irritation, inflammation, and breakouts, it's important to use skincare products that contain plant-based actives but do not strip the skin of its natural oils. Looking for a face wash with ingredients like MSM (Sulfur) and vitamin-rich oils will synergistically work to regulate sebum production without further irritating the skin. Hence, leaving your skin soothed and clear. An esthetician favorite is our private label Clear Skin Face Wash.

Step Two: Masking

Using a face mask with detoxifying ingredients like Active Charcoal, Kaolin Clay, and Bentonite Clay can help draw out impurities and further help congested complexions. Apply Rainshadow Lab'sActivate Charcoal Purifying Mask after cleansing the skin and leave on for 10 minutes then, rinse with warm water and clean towel. We recommend masking 1-2 times per week.

Step Three: Toner

Long gone are the astringent toners that dry out the skin. Instead, opt for toners that hydrate and contain botanical ingredients like Niacinamide and Aloe. Spritz a few pumps of Rainshadow Lab's private label Anti-Aging Clear Skin Toner.

Step Four: Treat with Serums

Serums work as a supplement to the skin. Generally, most serums formulate with higher concentrations making them extremely efficient when treating the skin. Apply 2-3 drops of our Anti-Aging Clear Skin Serum into the palms of your hands then gently press into the skin. This serum not only helps promote a clear complexion but also hydrates the skin. Meaning you can skip a regular moisturizer!

Now that you've got a simple and effective regime in place, it's important to remember to stay consistent. "Steer away from using an excessive amount of products and instead keep it minimal and just use a few of the right products," explains our licensed esthetician. Some helpful tips for dealing with skin breakouts is to steer clear of comedogenic (pore-clogging) makeup, change pillowcases more frequently, and to use unscented laundry detergent. When wearing a face mask during this pandemic, you can also opt for an organic cotton mask rather than the chemical-filled PPE mask.
