Skincare How-To: The Double Cleansing Method

Double Cleansing is a method that involves cleansing your face twice, once with an oil-based cleanser and second with a water-based cleanser. The concept behind the double cleansing method is to use cleansing oil to remove your makeup, excess sebum, and sunscreen. This initial step is supposed to clear the way for your regular facial cleanser to cleanse your skin instead of having to work its way through layers of makeup and sunscreen. The results are a more thorough cleanse without compromising the skin barrier.

Step One: Deep Cleansing Oil

Apply a few drops of Rainshadow Labs private label Deep Cleansing Oilinto the palms of your hands, warm up, and massage into face and neck. This botanical cleansing oil melts-away makeup (yes, even mascara)! Start by applying at the bottom of the neck and work your upward to the face, massaging in circular motions to stimulate blood flow and the lymphatic system. Rinse with warm water. If your skin is prone to congestion, be mindful when choosing your facial cleansing oil, choose non-comedogenic oils such as jojoba and hemp seed.

Step Two: Water-based Cleanser

Squeeze a dime-size amount of a water-based cleanser into your hands and emulsify with a few drops of water. Massage the facial cleanser into damp skin in gentle circular motions. Then it's time to rinse the second cleanser and pat your skin dry with a clean, soft towel.

Finding the right facial cleanser for your skin type will further level up your skincare game! For example, if your skin tends to run a bit on the drier side, opt for a milky cleanser like our Facial Cleansing Souffle. If your skin type is sensitive, choose a simple fragrance-free and sulfate-free cleanser like our private labelAloe Wash. If your skin is needing a boost in exfoliation, try our#NoFilter Active Enzyme Wash.

The Double Cleanse method helps to prevent over-washing of the skin, which can help prevent skin issues. Perform this method in your evening and morning regime for the best results. Now it's time to apply the rest of your favorite skincare such as toners, serums, moisturizers, facial oils, and SPF.
